Our approach to the project was to design a building that could be used as an example since there was no construction around the land yet. Since the land is a very narrow parcel, the square meter of a single floor will not be enough for a family life at the time of the building's occupation, we decided to make each flat a mezzanine duplex. Since the land was very sloping, we preferred to grade the building with vertical circulation instead of building a retaining wall and placing the building on it.
The building was designed as a mass with voids and occupancies with a very simple modulation. Next to the car park at road level, there are pedestrian entrances provided by both elevators and stairs. Due to the narrow plot, the common area circulation in the middle of the building made the flat plans more fluid.
The ground floor of the building and the floor above it form a duplex connected within itself. On the second, third and fourth floors, there are twin duplex flats of equal square meters. When you enter the second floor, which is the living area of the first of these apartments, there is a living room volume that also includes a work area. Then, the apartment has a kitchen and dining area, bedrooms at the back and en-suite bathrooms in the blindest spots. When you go upstairs with the stairs, there are two bedrooms, bathrooms and dressing areas, covering half of the building plan. One of the twin duplexes is entered from the fourth floor. Since this flat is designed as a reverse duplex, symmetrical to the first one, there are living rooms and living areas on the upper floor, and bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms on the lower floor.
There is also a penthouse at the top of the building. Designed as a guest house, this apartment has its own living area.
